How much does retexturing cost?

We price holds based on the area of their base. Usually, it works out to 50-70% cheaper than replacing with new, depending on the size. You can request a printable version of our pricing poster (some assembly required!) here, or we can ship you a poster. Get in touch with the holds you want to retexture, their sizes and we’ll get back to you with a quote.

Depending on the size of your orders, volume discounts are available!

Do you repair holds?

Included in the retexturing price, we will repair minor, non-structural damage before applying our new texture, including chips and jib holes! We will not undertake any repairs that are essential to the structural integrity of the hold (repairing cracks, reinforcing attachment points, fixing integrity of volumes etc.) and while we reserve the right to refuse any holds that we believe are unsafe, by sending it to us you are certifying that the hold is in safe operating condition.

How long does it take?

For most orders, we will book in your shipment. That means you know when it’s time for the holds to come off the wall and into a crate, and we will plan to be ready to texture when the holds arrive. Our goal is to have them back on the road in a week or two, but we’ll keep you updated with progress. Have a deadline coming up? Get in touch and we will try to find a way to help you out.

How many holds do I need to send?

We have a minimum batch size of 100 holds if you are shipping to us. However, shipping costs become much more economical if you are sending a larger batch and we also offer volume discounts for larger orders, so the more you send the better value you’ll get. We recommend thinking about this service as a yearly refresh for holds that are getting past their best, and to plan with that in mind. Feel free to get in touch and we can discuss what batch size will work best for your gym.

My whole gym needs retexturing, how many holds can you handle?

We’re ready to take on projects of all sizes. For large projects, we often recommend batching holds into smaller groups (one pallet at a time is best for shipping value) so your holds are off the wall for as little time as possible. We’re ready to work with you to make a plan that works for your schedule, just get in touch.

How does shipping work?

You are responsible for getting the holds to us here in Colorado, but please reach out if you’d like help organizing the shipment. Delicate macros and volumes need more careful packing, but most PU holds can be packed into a box without any wrapping. We will ship the Retex-ed holds back as soon as they’re ready. Shipping a pallet of holds at a time is usually the best value.

Shipping is free in the Colorado Front Range.

How do the holds need to be prepared?

We need them to arrive clean, so cleaning them with your usual method (power wash, dishwasher, toothbrush etc) before you send them is essential. Holds that need washing when they arrive will incur an extra fee.

How can I get a quote?

Download or request our sizing poster, and then get in touch with the sizing of the holds you’d like to Retex and we’ll get you a quote.

Can I change the color of my holds?

We are able to change the color of holds. This can be very useful to move holds between circuits.

One thing to watch out for if you decide to do this is that anything that of wears through the texture will show some of the color below, including aggressive attachment to the wall at the attachment points, jibbing, rope rub or the eventual wear of a sharp edge.

I don’t see the color I want?

We are getting started with a limited range of standard colors, but will be happy to find a match for you if you want to Retex a batch of holds in a new color. Not all colors are possible for now, but we are continuing to develop the system to allow for more colors, decrease cost and improve performance.

Can I retexture Dual-Tex?

Most of the time we can mask off the dual-tex area when applying texture for a small extra fee. We can also apply texture to the entire hold, covering the dual-tex. We cannot currently add dual-tex to a hold that doesn’t already have it.

How do I look after my retextured holds?

Our texture doesn’t play well with others, so storing your retextured holds in a way that prevents them from rubbing their texture on other hold’s texture is important to keeping them in good shape for a long time. This is especially important when storing your Retex-ed holds with macros, volumes or other Retex-ed holds, as the texture is much harder than polyurethane holds. We recommend storing all your holds in shallow crates, and limiting the movement of holds between storage bins as much as possible. They’re built to be abused on the wall, but need to be handled more carefully off the wall than typical PU holds. Think of them like little macros and they will last you for a long time.

Cleaning with a jet wash and cold water will retain the color and texture for as long as possible. The holds should also be kept out of sunlight (when drying or on outdoor walls) as this may cause the color to fade over time.
